St. Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum is celebrating its 245th birthday. The museum marks its birthday annually on December 7th. This day is the Day of St. Catherine, which recalls Catherine the Great, the founding mother of the museum’s collection. In recognition of its natal day, three exhibitions open today: Art and Culture of the Northern Black Sea Coast, Art of Dagestan in the 14th – Early 20th Centuries, and Enamels of the World – 1700-2000.
